Alaska Peninsula | Aleutian Islands | Chignik Finfish BOARD OF FISHERIES MEETING
February 18–24, 2026 | Egan Civic & Convention Center, Anchorage, Alaska

Public comment deadline: february 3, 2026 at 11:59 pm AKST

Stakeholders who live and work in the Eastern Aleutians region are coming together for the February Board of Fisheries meeting to engage difficult issues and stand up for the communities and economies tied to Area M fisheries. We’re collecting statements and input from fishermen, families, businesses, and community members who would be directly impacted if the Board of Fisheries reduces time, area, or opportunity in Area M fisheries.

This form has two parts:

  1. Coalition Coordination: To stay in touch, coordinate directly with attendees, and support anyone who may wish to testify. Information you provide in this section is private and will not be shared.

  2. Public Comment to the Board of Fisheries: Your answers will be turned into a professional, formatted written public comment to the Alaska Board of Fisheries. This is your chance to put real people, real communities, and real impacts into the official record.

You don’t need to be an expert. We’re looking for:

  • Your connection to fisheries

  • What changes would mean for you and your community

  • A clear request to the Board (what you want them to do)

A few important notes:

  • We will not submit comments that include profanity, threats, or personal attacks.

  • You do not need to be attending the meeting in February in person; please submit a public comment regardless of your attendance!

  • We won’t change your message in any material way. If needed, we may make small edits to complete a sentence or fix grammar so it reads clearly.

  • If you don’t want your words submitted as a public comment, don’t fill out the Public Comment section.

NOTE: If you prefer not to use the comment form below and would rather submit a comment directly to the Board of Fisheries — or upload a document — CLICK HERE.

note: the comment portal form was removed from this page at 7 pm akst on February 3 to accommodate and ensure adequate time for processing. The response to this comment drive was incredible - thank you to the 100+ people who submitted through the portal. if you are reading this on february 3, there is still time to submit! To send your comment directly to the board of fisheries before 11:59 pm akst on February 3, please click here.
